Assembly Platforms

Flexible assembly solutions for pharma and medical devices

Stevanato Group provides scalable assembly platforms designed to support pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturers across different production needs. Built on transport platforms and process modules, our solutions can be configured to meet device-specific requirements, from early development to high-volume manufacturing.

With decades of expertise in medical device assembly, we support customers with flexible and scalable solutions designed to meet quality, productivity, and process efficiency goals.

Benefits of our assembly platforms

By combining scalability, flexibility, and turnkey integration, our assembly platforms support changing production needs. This approach helps customers adapt assembly processes to different device formats, volumes, and automation levels.

  • 246_ Scalable

    Scalability
The scalable design can be easily ramped up from small batches to large-scale production. Furthermore, it enables technology transfer across different automation levels - from manual to fully automated - reducing validation time.

  • 72_Flexibility

    Flexibility
Leveraging advanced solutions to process injectable devices, including pen injectors, autoinjectors, inhalers, and on-body delivery systems, we enable customers to process different device formats on the same line.

  • 57_Packaging & Assembling

    Turnkey lines
We can combine assembly, labeling and packaging lines on the same line with a single user-friendly control panel that manages all the processes.

Assembly platforms for every development stage

Stevanato Group offers a comprehensive portfolio of assembly platforms designed to support each phase of the product lifecycle, from process development and pilot production to high-volume manufacturing.

Benchtop_layout

Benchtop unit

Manual or semi-automatic assembly of a wide variety of devices. Ideal for small production, it can process from 1 to 4ppm.

  1. Application: Designed for the device development phase and to analyze process parameters (component processability, required forces, etc.)
  2. Flexibility: Fixtures are changeable to handle different devices. Inline control features are available upon request.

Pilot_Line

Pilot lines

Specifically designed for the production of pilot series and small quantities, this line is based on a linear, freely programmable indexing system.

  1. Application: This line can analyze the production ability of the products and verify optimization points before building a high-volume production line.
  2. Compliance: It has been designed for production in Cleanroom class 8, compliant with ISO14644.

Linear platforms

Flexible platforms based on a linear transport system, designed to support complex assembly tasks from small to high-volume production. Stevanato Group’s linear platforms are scalable up to 160 ppm and can be configured for sub-assembly and final assembly of different drug delivery devices, including pen injectors, autoinjectors, inhalers, and wearable devices.

Available with vertical or horizontal motion, the platform can be adapted to different production layouts, flow schemes, and automation levels. Manual workstations can also be integrated when required, helping customers balance automation, flexibility, and process control.

Built on a modular architecture, linear platforms support multiple applications, device formats, and future capacity needs within a common platform concept. This helps reduce dependence on uncertain demand forecasts while enabling efficient scale-up, technology transfer, and long-term production flexibility.

Key features of linear platforms

  1. Efficiency - individual carrier control helps optimize acceleration, braking, positioning, and synchronization according to the operations cycle time, reducing line length as well as investment and operating costs.
  2. Scalability - modular design allows production lines to match current needs and Capex requirements, while supporting future volume ramp-up.
  3. Flexibility - The platform can handle components with different sizes and shapes, enabling multiple programs and shorter lead times on the same machine.
  4. Compact footprint - Precise carrier control helps optimize line processes such as vision inspection, printing, and labeling, reducing the need for additional stations.
  5. Sustainability - The transport system reduces dust, abrasion, and contamination risks compared to belt or chain conveyors. It is quiet, low-maintenance, and suitable for cleanroom environments.
